VALUES

Respect for the Individual
At all times, the actions of the Cell are based on respect for the individual. This is demonstrated through attentive and non-judgmental listening. A relationship imbued with humanism and dignity is established; an egalitarian relationship where the professional does not position themselves as an expert, but as a guide. Thus, confidentiality and discretion are always maintained to establish a relationship of trust.

Empowerment
The autonomy and freedom of choice of the individual are at the heart of the Cell's practices. They promote the reclamation of the power to act by those supported. There is an openness to the individual's pace and choices. Thus, the professional demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to meet the individual's needs and solutions.

Mutual Aid and Collaboration
Because the Cell alone cannot meet all the needs of those it supports, it relies on collaboration with the entire community in which it operates. Each team member or board member acts in a spirit of mutual aid and sharing for the benefit of those supported and the well-being of the communities in which they work.

Social Justice
The Cell witnesses daily the feelings of powerlessness and anger that inequalities and abuses generate in marginalized individuals. It commits to collaborating in social transformation and denouncing unacceptable situations.

MISSION

The Brome-Missisquoi Youth and Family Cell supports individuals in identifying and preventing problems associated with addiction in their various living environments, notably through prevention activities. The Brome-Missisquoi Youth and Family Cell offers listening, information, support, emergency assistance, and referral services to people in difficulty with the aim of promoting social and personal integration. The Brome-Missisquoi Youth and Family Cell contributes to improving the living conditions of vulnerable individuals from a perspective of prevention and social transformation.

For many people, the Cell is the gateway to services. The community-based approach adopted by the Cell allows it to reach individuals who are often apprehensive about turning to organizations and institutions. This practice, based on listening, respect, and welcoming the individual in their environment, allows for tailored support according to their needs. Thus, the Cell team works closely with community resources to ensure that everyone finds services according to their needs.

APPROACH

The Cell is known for its community-based approach. Its interventions stem from the needs and realities experienced by people in difficulty, and its services are flexible. The Cell does not act as an expert but seeks to empower individuals and mobilize them in addressing their needs.
